Guide To Teaching and Learning

Social Annotation Tools

Social annotation tools allow for conversation and collaboration in the margins of any online or digital content, including text, images, musical scores and video. This gives students who are absent, in different locations, or less comfortable speaking publicly in class a chance to contribute and engage.

New School faculty can use hypothes.is and Perusall in Canvas to annotate any text (including pdfs, web pages and video) to promote deeper reading, learning, collaboration and discussion.
