University Learning Center

The University Learning Center (ULC) provides academic support to New School’s students and alumni through one-on-one tutoring sessions, workshops, handouts for students, resources for faculty, and more.

Individual Tutoring Sessions are available in the following areas: general and graduate-level writing, computer programming and software, math and economics, ESL services, oral presentations, time management, AI use and plagiarism, and ADHD & Autism support. Learning portfolio assistance, career-related tutoring, and support on reading strategies are also offered.

  • Students can book online or in-person tutoring sessions via WCONLINE. In-person sessions take place at the University Center Library, 63 5th Ave, 6th floor. Details for how to join both online and in-person sessions are sent in a confirmation email upon booking.
  • Faculty, staff, and alumni should email learningcenter@newschool.edu to inquire about same-day sessions or send their availability at least 24 hours in advance.

In-Class Workshops on Fundamentals of the Academic Essay, How to Develop a Strong Thesis Statement, Plagiarism and Citation, Oral Presentations, How to Talk About Your Work, Reading for Understanding, and other topics can be tailored to address specific lessons and are available by request.
